To see if the orientation thing was fixed in the latest update.

Yak, yak, yak, yak, yak
Gods I wish people would just say what they need to say without all the extraneous bullshit. Brevity and clear thinking are virtues.

Almost time for BirdNote
One of my favorite shows on public radio. And SW Airlines buying AirTran could make things interesting at a lot of airports in the southeast and east.
Off to my meeting.

100% chance of rain
And I'm headed out to play in traffic. Little break in the precipitation right now, will be nice if it holds.

Cigarettes an whiskey and wild, wild women
Two out of three ain't bad. I never smoked but I appreciate good whiskey and have known a few wild women. And I am a bit crazy; good thing I didn't do all three or I might be insane.

Dan Savage's imaginary vagina
I'm listening to an old Savage Love podcast where he is referring to his imaginary vagina while answering a question about vigorous fisting and an IUD. Hard to explain to cow-orkers why I'm laughing.

Stumps gone
cherry tree stumps ground out. I got a call from their stump guy
while in my way home. He gave me a price and when I asked when he
could schedule it he said, "How about now?" Inside a half
Another weekend of work
On another 12-day stretch of work. But the overtime pay almost makes it worth it.
On another note, another group of stupid teens near here has been hospitalized after taking prescription drugs one of them brought in. I know for a fact *I* wasn't that fucking dumb at that age. Help, I didn't even try pot until I was at Nuke School; and haven't smoked it since.

Management by idiocy
Some managers seem to need to justify their existence by creating make-work. I'm writing a permit for a once a year event that doesn't need a permit for what they are doing, but MS wants them to have one.
Oh well, it all pays the same; whether I'm doing something useful or busy work.

I've been ill
I apparently got a bad carnitas bake at the Costco snack bar Saturday and started feeling bad Sat evening. By yesterday morning I was feeling really crappy with multiple trips to the shitter (sadly sans phone.) Still not feeling great today.

Getting ready for Cataclysm
Apparently, Blizzard is getting us ready for the next expansion for World of Warcraft. This week there have been two big patch downloads; one 1.6 gb and the other 4 gb. Must suck for those in slow connections.
I woke up this morning
Considering how I felt yesterday, that's an accomplishment. And, since it's all I have planned for the day, I can feel good about it.

Seattle Storm
The Storm won this year's WNBA title and had their celebration parade in the rain last evening. Good thing flannel keeps you warm, there were more lesbians per square foot than anywhere outside a Dykes on Bikes convention.

It's starting to catch up with me
I'm exhausted. All this work taking down trees, cutting them up, loading them and other crap into the dumpster is doing me in. It'll be finished soon though; one pile of pallets and brush left to load then removing the fiberglass roofing from the porch and throwing it in. I might finish tonight, if not I'll finish tomorrow.

America's Cup class set
The basic class rule set for the 2013 America's Cup regatta has been released. The class is called AC72 and will be 72' catamarans with 131' wing sails. These critters will be fast, but personally I'm going to miss the monohulls.
The most annoying six-word phrase in the English language
It has to be, "I was only trying to help." One usually only hears that when trying to fix something that someone who really shouldn't have been fucking with it has made the problem worse.

Drama
Mrs Bristol and her family thrive on the shit. And it annoys the utter fuck out if me. There are things that almost require wailing and gnashing; one sister died while driving drunk, other sister committed suicide (or was murdered - part of the drama), niece and family went through Katrina. Other things, at least to me, are just stupid; like arguing over who was at some family function back in the 80s.
It doesn't help that her mom is a long-term alcoholic and neither one of them is willing to let the other be right and "win".

Debris box
There's now a 20 yard debris box sitting in my driveway. It got dropped off this morning and I get to start putting stuff in it this afternoon. I have a lot of wood in the back yard including some old pallets that were there when I bought the place 20 years ago. I also plan on taking down 2 cherry trees to make room for a shed.
Once the box is gone the driveway will be torn out and replaced with concrete. Also, a new garage door, maybe a new front door, painting the house, a new back porch roof, and if there's money, redoing the kitchen.

Back to work
Five days off was nice, but stuff needs to be done. And I'm on the first day if an 11 day work stretch. Overtime is nice, helps pay for toys - I had 9 hours in the last pay period.

New television season
I don't watch nearly as much TV as I used to. Not that I'm doing anything useful, mostly reading, internet surfing and playing WoW. I am looking forward to the new seasons of Survivor and Amazing Race. I usually give most if the new shows at least one shot.

Fiber
I'm thinking I need more. Last few days I've been eating low-residue food and it shows. Now it's time to go out and work ion the yard.

Going to the fair
Going to the state fair today. Time to get out the shirt and hat that Mrs. Bristol refuses to be seen with me in, except for at the fair.

OK, you win
I'm giving in to Dristan, the Goddess of Pollen today. Just called in and am staying home sick. Back to bed, I think.

Thought about building an ark
In a bit over 20 hours I got about 2.5 inches of rain. In that time there was about a 2 1/2 hour span from noon when it wasn't raining. I think we picked a good day to not go to the fair...
