So I'm going to try to get some outside work done.

The Hobbit
The movie version of The Hobbit wiil be made in New Zealand. It took an agreement with the unions and a change in law to keep it there. And it's a good thing; they'll be able to maintain visual continuity with the LOTR movies. And won't have to re-recreate Hobbiton. They'll just have to throw the sheep out of Bag End - probably easier than evicting the Sackville-Bagginses...

Webber crashed out?
I haven't watched it yet, but I heard that Webber crashed out of the Korean GP. That will make the last two races even more important.

Rainy Friday
First Autumn storm came through last night. Not much as storms go, but it's the start of a rainy week. And I get to work outside both days this weekend. The OT pay will be nice.

Staying in a hotel
With Mrs. Bristol to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The room isn't much smaller than our entire house, but we have a small house.

I fixed the toilet!
We had our water service line replaced on Monday. When the water got turned back on, the toilet fill valve wouldn't shut off. After I replaced it it would shut off, but was running slow. When I pulled the connector line to inspect it a little disc of hard plastic fell out. The only thing I can figure is that there was a piece of scrap was left in the old fill valve and when the toilet got flushed while the water was off it got sucked down to the shutoff valve and lodged there.
Anyway, the toilet tank that was taking almost 20 minutes to fill now fills in less than one.

Sleepy
It's going to be a long afternoon. I woke at 0400 and couldn't go back to sleep. So I just got up, watched some TV and read the newspaper until it was time to come to work. I have some trouble functioning on less than 5 hours sleep.

Meetings today
One of my major accounts is planning significant changes in their treatment systems. So today I'll be in meetings about that with them, Construction Management, Planning, and the Building Department. It will be a good thing, their current system is based on 70s technology; they will be able to get better treatment for less cost with a modern setup.

Liu Xiaobo's Nobel Prize
I don't know that I should be enjoying Beijing's discomfort at the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Liu. You know the government there has been drooling for a prize for, well, ever. And that they'd normally be crowing about getting it. But Liu doesn't hee to the party line, so much that he's been imprisoned. Odds are that he doesn't even know yet that he won. I think it's going to be fun watching this play out.

Beautiful morning
Gorgeous sunrise on the way to work this morning. Four periods a year I get the sunrise in my face on the way to work; it will be there for a week or two then DST changes and I get it again for a couple of weeks. Sadly, there's no good place to stop and get a good photo of some of the sunrises I see and this morning I really wanted to.

USGP trouble on the horizon?
The organizers of the 2012 US Grand Prix in Austin, TX have missed their (admittedly self-imposed) deadline for submitting their circuit plan to the FIA. Does this portend another US F1 debacle? Only time will tell.

I Shall Wear Midnight
Terry Pratchett's latest Tiffany Aching book, title above, is out. I've reread the first two, The Wee Free Men and A Hat Full Of Sky and am currently rereading the third, Wintersmith. I've also read every other book Sir Terry has published and own a copy of most.

Yeah, I could rotate each photo before I post, and maybe someday I will.
