The Ohio-Michigan war
Did you know that Ohio and Michigan fought a war in the mid-1830s? What were they fighting over you ask? Toledo. Yes, Toledo. At the time it was a small port and both wanted it for a port due to the opening of the Erie Canal, which opened up the Great Lakes to commerce. In the end Ohio got Toledo and as a consolation prize, Michigan got the Upper Peninsula. I think Michigan won.
